Current Status

House Bill 196 "2021 COVID-19 Response and Relief" has passed and has been signed into law, by Governor Cooper, to take effect October 1, 2021.  The bill expanded the role of pharmacists in helping address the crisis.  In addition it authorized qualified pharmacists to administer long-acting injectable (LAI) medications, and unlike other portions of the bill, this LAI authority DOES NOT sunset or expire with the end of the COVID-19 crisis.
